NAME: TRAVIS

COMPANY ROLE: LEADING HAND – FITTING AND MACHINING

Travis started as an Apprentice in our Machine Shop 20 years ago and through his hard work and drive has progressed to his current role. He is an extremely loyal and a passionate team member who will always step up to lend a hand or help a colleague out. Travis has “personality plus”, and it is not uncommon to hear Travis singing (questionably) in our workshop or having a laugh at the end of the working day. We chose Travis to feature in our “Staff Profiles – Meet the team” posts, as we wanted to give our clients an insight into some of the great employees we have here at Contatore Engineering.

What is an interesting project you have worked on at Contatore Engineering?

An interesting job I have worked on was the manufacturing of four hydraulic tensioner cylinders for an offshore rig. It was very challenging to bore out the 5 meter long barrels, but very satisfying to be able to complete for the customer.

What’s one skill you are currently working on?

I currently aspire to be a supervisor, so I am working on the skill of being a great supervisor. I have been undergoing professional development and attending courses in leadership and management that will allow me to progress further.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

After hours I enjoy going riding on my dirt bike. Last year I rode with 25 guys all the way to Bunbury through the bush, it was epic. I also love spending time with my two young kids and wife. We do all sorts of activities together, such as fishing, riding our bikes, and going on camping trips; we have actually just come back from a little getaway to Kalbarri.

How do you prefer to start or end your day?

I love to end my day with a cold beer (Preferably Hahn’s Super Dry).
